Help! Please chance me! I am freaking out right now

<p>Ok, so Amherst for the last 3 or so years has either been my number 1 or number 2 choice but with severe insistance from my parents, they advised (more like ordered) me to apply regular decision to amherst. The other school that I am applying early action then is to Georgetown but I need to know now if I can still get into Amherst regular decision bc I know the acceptance for early decision almost doubles (around 30ish%) so if you guys think I can still get in regular decision, it will de-stress me a lot!</p>

Ranking: Top 3 % (out of 500+)</p>

<p>I’m taking 5 AP courses this year (my senior year) and the 3 I have taken so far, I have gotten all 5s. All my other courses are honors except for studio art and the religion classes(these classes are mandatory and no honors are available for these)</p>

Yearbook: 3 yrs (Editor)
Art Club: 4 yrs (Vice Pres)

<p>I think you have a very good chance. The higher number often includes recruited athletes, so it doesn’t necessarily mean that it would be easier for you to get into Amherst ED.</p>

<p>I think you have a very good chance, too. You grades, AP, ACT, all the Latin… very impressive. I think ED can be a great option, but your RD chances aren’t too shabby either!</p>

<p>D just graduated, and she applied RD, because we were worried about FA. She even recieved an Early Write and her stats were not much idfferent from yours. Just make sure your essays show who you are. BTW, they need ancient language scholars, so that could surely help you.</p>

<p>If you had attended the Diversity Open House, it would have given you a significant advantage, but that’s no longer relevant…</p>

<p>Relax, and don’t feel compelled to apply to a school Early for a competitive advantage.
You are already very competitive for both schools. Good luck.</p>

<p>I think it isn’t advisable to say “you have a very good chance.” It’s really a crap shoot when you have the requisite stats/grads. Too many great students are applying, so don’t count on anything…that’s just the reality.</p>

<p>Good grades + good ACT score + decent ECs + URM = very good chances at Amherst</p>
