This might sound crazy but I’m torn between going to USC or Cal Poly Pomona next year. I’m planning on majoring in chemical engineering. I’ve been accepted to both schools however I didn’t receive any financial aid from USC and it’s pretty expensive compared to Cal Poly Pomona. Also, I’ve heard that job recruiters are hiring students from Cal Poly Pomona more because of their hands on approach. I’m not planning on going to graduate school after I get my bachelor’s so what do you think that I should do? Thank you!

What is it about USC that makes you want to decide the two schools? Because it seems like you have yourself more reasons to chose CPP over USC

Well USC does have amazing alumni connections and socially has a lot more going on than CPP. And I also think that it is ranked higher than CPP, which might be helpful for when I try to get a job after I graduate

Do you (or your parents) have the money saved up to attend USC? If not, I’d pick CPP.

Since money is an issue, you should go to CPP and sign the 4 year graduation pledge and be aware that they are switching to the semester system from the quarter system starting in 2017, which would be your 4th year, so you want to be aware of schedule changes and classes available in order to graduate on time.

For prestige and much more debt, then USC.
