Hi there. Is there anybody going to any of these schools and willing to share some infos with me?
University of Minnesota
University of Idaho
University of Oregon
University of Arizona
Arizona State University
SUNY- at Buffalo
Penn State University (not hoping much on this one)

I'd like to know more about things like:
1. Classes. Is it easy to register for classes or they just get filled up too early? How are the profs, good teachers, available for students or not? Do we get insane workloads (homeworks), I prefer classes that challenge in quality, not quantity. Are the admins helpful or just available when we write the check?
2. Are the dorms any good on your campus or they simply suck? If apartment is a better choice is it easy to find a decent one?
3. What about the surrounding town. are the residents friendly? Or whether its safe or not over there. One more thing, any decent access to supermarkets, diners, movies, etc?
4. Its campus life. Are the students friendly towards foreigners and one another? What about social scenes, do they party all the time or never party at all? Not a party animal, but prefer places with social life.
5. Anything more, unsual, or any concerns I should know about?

If you're willing to tell me more, feel free to respond. Any infos appreciated.

I can tell you about ASU.

ASU
1. Classes are HUGEEEEEEEEEE according to my sister. She's gotten lost in a crowd. Many of the intro classes are 500+, so learn to love your TA's. I think to her, the workload wasn't bad except in some of the upper division classes (speaking of those, those have less students in each class, obviously). The professors are decent, but you'll have a bit of trouble understanding them- many of them are from foreign places (many from China) and they're not always the greatest at the English language.

I've seen the dorms. It varies. My sister ended up in a pretty good dorm her first semester and then she moved out. There's a lot of off-campus housing available because ASU can't provide housing for everyone (40k? Yeah right.) Otherwise, the dorms are pretty average.

Tempe is very much a college town. I wouldn't worry about the residents. It's very safe. There are lots of shops around, but a lot of the locally-owned bars and restaurants actually close after dark, which puts a damper on things. But then again, because ASU is growing, I think there's been a bit of change going on in terms of that.

Playboy ranked ASU as the number one party school. Though you can definitely avoid the scene altogether, there are just lots of parties. Some people do come to class hung over.

Just know that it's considered a party school for a reason. You can get an education or you can go out and drink until 2 in the morning everyday if you want. Learn to balance and you'll be fine.

As for U of A, I suggest that you check out http://the-u.com . Register and then see the videos; I think they're pretty accurate.

Thanks. I just hope its not too tough to get admitted there. I used to go to WSU in Pullman, WA. Town's really remote and tiny, but the people are nice. I wouldve stick around if the school's departments are more organized, unfortunately they simply arent. So I'm looking for a temporary school where I can study and raise my gpa to get admitted to higher level schools.
Actually I was admitted there , along with WSU and Oklahoma State. but I choose WSU, and now I regret it.

You'd have to be an idiot to not get into ASU. It has a 95% rate of acceptance.

Did you at least kind of try in high school? Then you're fine.

....that easy? Does it mean transferring there might end as academical suicide? I'm planning to move to a better school after a year or so, maybe UT Austin or U of Washington, but their apps deadline is over and their requirements are high (I'm a 3.0 student and UW asked for 3.5 to transfer).
Well its not like ASU is worse than WSU. Professors here consider this school to be at the same level as ASU, despite the school's claim that they're among the best... yeah right.

Oh btw I'm an international student. Does that make it tougher to transfer there?

At 95% acceptance, what do you honestly think?

ASU is honestly that easy. I'm surprised that a lot of programs are as good as they are.

Hmm... thats actually interesting. Considering WSU admins big mouth, many of the programs arent as good as they want you to believe.
They have good nursing, communication, and honors program, and.... thas about it. Others are so so or mediocre in reality.
