Okay, I’m not the smartest person (everyone on CC seems to be 1600 SAT scorers and condescending) but I really need 1290 on the SAT. My first try was an 1160 and if I don’t get this 1290 my life will crash and burn (exaggeration but it’s really important to me). Any tips on what to use for practice?

I know I need an increase in math I just don’t know how.
Well don’t study the English section. Identify your weaknesses in the math section. Don’t time yourself the first week of practice and just concentrate on solving the math correctly. Just use the practice tests from the college board website. There’s great YouTube videos showing the solutions to the practice tests. Identify your weaknesses and try to find worksheets that you struggle with after seeing them done properly.
Have you tried the UWorld.com? Good source to raise your math scores. Also, watch SATPrepGet800, supertutortv on youtube, first one for your math, second one for the SAT as a whole picture. SAT panda book for math (or this way somehow…don’t remember the exact name) and erica meltzer’s critical reading are the only paper books you need (actually you can find the e-book versions for free:-)) For critical reading, also use khanacademy (it’s passages are more alike to real collegeboard ones than the UWorld passages) Good luck, wish you the highest score you are hoping for!!!
Focus on the concept, not just the equation. Many people find that they have an easier time in math if they actually understand what they’re doing and why. Don’t spend a lot of time drilling formulas and equations, but rather look at each problem and contemplate what it is asking of you.
Are you familiar with Princeton Review? As per my friends, PR’s counseling service was superb. Then you can probably ask for help. You might get very nice information for all of your questions.
