Increase SAT score by 300 points??

I am a freshman in hs, (a sophmore because I am graduating one year early), and am trying to figure out how to increase my SAT score by at least 300 points, to get around a 1510. I haven’t taken an actual test yet, just the practice ones. The best score I have gotten was a 1210, 600 in Math and 610 in R&W. I am planning on taking the real thing in March of 2017. Any tips would be helpful to increase my score/study websites and books. I know this might be a challenging goal, but I have to get this and am willing to do whatever it takes to get into a prestigious university. This is coming from someone who’s older sibling got into 2 Ivys with a perfect score in the math section. This might help explain why I have this goal! Thanks!

Have you taken Algebra 2 yet? If not, by the time you finish that you should naturally see a large score increase due to the fact that you will have learned new material on the test! I will give you what I did to study and how I went from a 1340 to 1530 in just two months. Research prep books for the New SAT, put them on hold at your library, and check out as many library books you can find on the sat and constantly renew them. I looked through a variety of books for two months leading up to the test 2-3 times a week for about an hour. So I only spent 2-3 hours a week on the books but they definitely did help me a lot. I took notes on the tips I found the most useful and looked over those in the week before the test, and I also did some practice problems. I took 5 practice tests in the two months before the test (official PSAT, 2 PSAT practice tests, 1 SAT practice test, and one from a tutoring company). I also went over all of my problems that I missed and figured out the answer without looking at the answer I marked or the correct answer. I also did Khan Academy but not that frequently (1-2 hours a week max). I hope this helps a lot. I didn’t do that much prep but still saw a 190 point increase in a short span of time. I didn’t spend much time on prep but I was dedicated, focused, and efficient with my time.

Also don’t worry! Even if you are the equivelant of a sophomore right now, you have tons of time to retake the SAT!

Also, you’re going to have to be you. You are not your siblings. Taking the next level of math, as mentioned, will automatically put you in a better place to increase your math score.

Thanks so much! I am currently in Algebra 2. And I know I’m just a sophomore, but I want to be able to just get my score and be done with it as early as possible! I guess I just needed some assurance that it was possible to do this, that all I need is dedication and hard work!
