Help me with my schedule! I'm planning on going to guidance soon.

Right now, my junior-senior schedule looks like this:

Junior
AP Bio
AP Stats
APUSH
H. English
H. Precalc
H. Spanish 4

Senior
AP Calc AB
AP Physics C: Mech
AP English Lit
AP Econ
AP Psych

...I started junior year two days ago. Spanish has really been bothering me. The teacher is an @$$ and she's already making us do ridiculous projects. This will be my third year of a FL in HS, I've only taken Spanish 2 and 3 frosh/soph year. Also, I need to take AP Econ sometime the next two years for the business requirement.

My question is, would it hurt my chances/application to drop Spanish 4 and take AP Econ junior year? If I do that, then I could take another science class (probably AP Chem) senior year because of the lab days. Is it worth it?

I'm looking at Dartmouth and Brown especially right now. As well as a lot of Tier-1s, other Ivies, and LACs.

Then the third year of FL is a must if you want to get into those schools.

I’m not as smart as everybody else, and sorry to say something in your thread. I’ve got AP Physics C, Calc BC Ap and APES all in a row. A lazy azz like me can’t do that shiet. :(

Also as a side note, may schedule is already really difficult for a junior at my school. Everyone is taking 2 APs, but me and 2 others are taking 3 APs. Would taking AP Econ, and thus having 4 APs, give me an advantage?

Hi, I have a pretty similar schedule to yours, only I have AP Chem instead of Stats.
I think that you really should have at least three years FL.
I think that no matter what, May is going to suck. Taking four APs and doing well on all of them will certainly give you an advantage. But with Bio and APUSH, which require large amounts of memorization, you might be able to devote the time to a fourth AP, and you’d have lower scores on all of them, which would not be advantageous.
It really depends on how you manage your time, how much you can devote to the classes, and how supportive the teachers are. Your guidance counselor will be able to tell you more about specifics pertaining to your school, and if they have the numbers of how well the students do on each exam, you might want to consider those as well.

My understanding is that Brown would prefer to see the 3rd year (and even 4th year, really) of language if it’s offered and possible, but they won’t automatically reject you if you don’t have it - you just need to have something else that really piques their interest.

^It’s not that I want to seem impressive, I just hate Spanish :)

Thanks everyone, I think I’ll just sit out one more year of a FL and drop it senior year. I don’t want something so small as taking another year of a FL to keep me from where I want to go!
