Help! Sending first child off to college!!

Hello everyone! I am seeking any lists that you may have on what is needed for college. Yes, I have all of the school lists, but there is always that "I wish I would have thought of that" item! You have all helped us out in ways you will never know. Since you are all so good at helping, I am asking for more! :) So, any lists would be greatly appreciated! My d will be attending Shenadoah Conservatory, so she is going the BFA route. She will be staying in a dorm, a double room. I cannot believe this time is here already! Just wish I could slow time down-

Ironically, I had just received this email from a friend before reading the request for college lists post. I have to admit that I have sent 2 children off to college and they did NOT leave with all these items. (and survived!)
;)

I would also recommend a mattress protector (about $10 at most bed and bath stores) to "seal" in the mattress and a small safe (Staples) for putting some valuables in-Ipod, wallet, jewelry, and put under bed or in a safe place like a dresser drawer

CA Griffin;

What a great and well thought out list!

Wally

Add a fan to the list.

I copied this list of needed items from a word doc and as you can see it formatted in a strange way. No commas, since it was written in columns. Items such as a fan are buried in the list, not separated by appropriate commas. You may want to print and edit the list to read easily. My apologies! :(

I didn't really read through all your list, have a list of my own that I used with my son that I need to type up to use with my D.

Two things I can suggest - a trunk (on wheels) is good to have, easy to lock up important items as well as store other luggage/duffle bags. Just hope you have a place to put it (my son put it under his bed)

If that bathroom is a common one shared by many - take rubber flip flops to avoid any foot surprises - and remember to be careful that you don't slide on the wet floor!
