So I’m going to be a senior next year and course selection just opened and I’m so unsure if I want to take this class (AP Physics C)! I’ve taken AP Calculus AB, which I really liked, and AP Physics 1, which I think is so interesting but it doesn’t come very easily to me. Mechanics are a lot easier for me but I find electrostatics and magnets to be a lot more difficult.
Also, I’m not sure what I want to major in but something STEM related probably.
My main concerns are that I’m going to be a senior and I’m pretty involved with extracurriculars and I’m going to be taking some pretty difficult classes (AP Lit, AP Econ, multivariable calculus, organic chemistry), on top of college apps, so I don’t want to overwhelm myself and see my avg dip significantly.
But on the other hand I really started to love math when I saw the connection between calculus and physics in my math classes, so I think it would be a really great learning experience.
PLS HELP SHOULD I DO IT?!!
You could always just take AP Physics C: Mechanics, instead of both Physics C classes. You have a good foundation, so you are deemed fit to take the class.
It will most likely involve a lot of work, so outweigh the risks and benefits of taking this class as a senior. You do NOT want early-onset senioritis.
Lol I kind of already have it! But at my school both AP C parts are taken together in one 2 period class, and you are required to take both AP Exams. I don’t want to like self-study for one for college credit, because I would want to take it to learn from the teacher and the students… not really for the credit.
If by STEM you mean math/physics/engineering, I’d say take Physics C in place of organic chem. If you mean chem/bio/CS, I’d pass on AP Physics C. As it is, your schedule is pretty challenging.
Take physics C instead of organic chemistry and your problem is solved.
I can’t skip organic chemistry because my school has majors and I’m in the chemistry major so it’s like a required class. AP Physics C would be like an additional elective. However, I do know orgo at my school is mostly in-class work and not too much homework.
