HELP! Strong Teacher Recommendations

Many colleges want 1 or 2 teacher recommendations from "core classes".
Would my journalism teacher(she's also an english teacher) count as a an english core teacher? I know that some schools consider journalism as an english class.

My other teacher I'm considering is my Health and Bioscience Academy teacher. Is she considered a science teacher? This academy is from 10th grade till 12th grade.

These two teachers would write me the best recommendations because I'm really close to them and have known them for 3+ years. I'm just worried that if they don't count, then I'll have to get recommendations from teachers I'm not too close with.

Also, if I want to apply to many colleges that require teacher recommendations, would it be annoying to the teacher if I ask her to do more than one recommendation? I know that the format is pretty similar for most colleges, but the teacher probably has requests from other students.

Thanks in advance!!!

Whether these teachers count as "core" is a question you should ask your GC, or the teachers themselves. They've been through this many times. And since most of us don't know what your "academy" is, there's no way we can answer knowledgeably.

As for many applications, teachers generally fill out one (maybe 2) of the forms, write one letter, and copy them for however many colleges you apply to. It is extremely rare that a teacher will personalize a letter for 10 colleges.

journalism is english
health and biosciences is science

I don't know what you mean by academy though, that's circumstantial.

I think that a college might not count the journalism teacher as an english teacher; could you just have the journalism teacher write one and let that one be an "extra"? and have another one from a more standard English teacher?
This is ESPECIALLY if true you are applying to a liberal arts college that does not offer a journalism degree.
