So I'm scheduled to take it this Saturday for the third time, but I have not prepped well at all. I'm only applying regular decision to schools. Will it be okay to take the December ACT and still be able to send the scores in time? Better yet, be able to see my scores, and then send them? And how might this work for schools for rolling admissions?
Thank you!

I have the exact same question!

I know that doesn’t exactly answer your question, but I was talking with my HS counsler today and this is sort of the idea that I gathered…

If the app deadline is Febuary/after you’d get your December scores back, then go ahead and take the ACT again in December.

If the app deadline is December/where you wouldn’t get your scores back, then consider if it’s really worth it. Most schools that have heavy duty scholarships with deadlines before I’d get December scores back. So in my case…it might not be worth it…but I guess it just depends on the school you’re applying to?

A big problem you could run into is getting your scores back late December/January and then being on winter break and not having your counselor be able to send them for multiple weeks! So I guess it’d be best to put down school codes on ACT when you would take it.

Overall, I don’t really know how accurate the above information is. It was based on a 2 minute conversation. In my opinion, I think it really just depends on why you’re retaking it. I’d be retaking for scholarships rather than admissions, so taking it in December might be pointless because of early deadlines but I still want to ask my counselor more.

Ok, sorry for my ramble…I’ll stop now. Best of luck!

I considered taking it in December. However, these are possible problems that could arise:
1)Your score may be one of the very last ones to be scored.
2)You can’t 100% control your body. You may get really sick on that day and then you are doomed
3)Depending on the state you live in, weather may change things. For example, as a result of Hurricane Irene, some high schools were damaged and kids who signed up to take their ACT test on those high schools had to reschedule.
4)Family emergencies may arise, you never know
5)The time colleges will receive your score is not promised. Some colleges are very strict about the Jan 1st deadline.

These were my reasons. I may be paranoid, but whatever.

I recommend just taking it tomorrow for the last time, just because… well, if you’re in the midst of applications, finals, and homework, the LAST thing you want to worry about is the ACT.

Just my $0.02.

I am taking the DEC ACT… and its my first time since my SAT score which came out yesterday turned out badly… so …
I have schools for Jan 1… I dont know how its gonna work but I want to take it…

Last year, I have a friend took Jan SAT for RD…so…
