HELP to decide between FIU and GMU

Hello, I'm a latin-american student I just got accepted for M.S. in Telecommunications and Networing Programs in Florida International University and George Mason University (Virginia).

GMU rating is much higher than FIU but there are different aspects too. FIU is in the middle of Miami and more latin-americans study there (it would be easier to relate), GMU seems to be a red-neck university and latin students are minority. Besides GMU is located far from any big city. I have read fiu is less tough in academics but I'm not sure if it's the same for graduate school.

I know academic aspect is really important but this is the first time I'll study abroad and I have to consider living environment too.

I'll appreciate all your comments.

Which one is better for telecomm?

GMU is about 20 minutes from DC. Fairfax is not redneck; its very diverse. Latin students are probably minorities but white rednecks are likely even less common. There is a large Hispanic population in the area. Its about 30 minutes from Dulles Int’l Airport too if that matters. I know nothing about the programs at either school but I think your perception of GMU is way off. (That was not meant to be rude, hopefully it does not come over that way).

I think you should look more into the other classes offered at both of these places and see what you find that peaks your interest. An elective class is always a good way to break off stress free for a bit and release some energy :)
