help! UCSB, UCSD, Cal State Long Beach???

Alright, these are my options right now...

I applied to all of them as a sociology major and im transferring from a community college.

The first problem is--should i go to a UC or should i go to a State school.

Im not much of a partier and ive heard UCSB is a party school, but then again so are most schools...i dont know about UCSD or Long Beach.

Because im a transfer, UCSD wont give me housing, Long Beach's housing is by lottery, and i dont know about UCSB.

I live five hours away from UCSB and approximately two to three hours away from SD and LB.

with this said, if theres any more info needed ask me, but i would really like to hear so informed opinions.

Thanks

UCSD is the best of those schools in my opinion. Also, it is not much of a party school at all. I would not base my decision on housing, because you can always live off campus.

There is a huge quality difference between UCSD and LB, with SB being somewhere inbetween. What do you want to study and what do you want to do? In general, you will be seen much more highly as a grad of UCSD by employers.

i was thinking of taking my sociology degree and maybe doing something like teaching or counseling.

Im not sure yet, as those options dont sound too fun or interesting but sociology is the field that allows me more choices.

Ive heard that UCSD is a significantly dry school, with little on campus social life. Although im not into the whole drink till you puke scene, i would like to go somewhere where there are social events.

as for long beach, its a commuter school, so i doubt there will be much on campus things to do there.

Thanks for the responces, anyone have anymore info?

I would go to UCSB. It is just a more lively place. Join a club or two. There are some really top notch students at the school.

UCSD might have a few more top notch students, but I visited UCSD a couple of years ago and found the school dull.

Long Beach State is fine, but can't compare to a UC.
