Help! What should I do with a D?

I just found out I need to get a 100% on on a AP English course the last grading period just to get a border line C. (rounding!)
I know from previous posts that straight Bs with one or two Cs will be okay, but I don't know about a C- or most likely, a D+, mainly because apparently I missed a HUGE test without knowing and my teacher just absolutely won't allow any other opportunities to raise up my grade.
I have half Bs and half As in my other courses right now; maybe one or two Cs, if I really screw up.
Other options would be to drop the course(since I am taking another English course) or beg to my counselor to have it shown as a W, but even these options are not likely to happen, and worse yet, I don't know if those can still mean I can still actually go to Northwestern next year.
Any other insights or suggestions? :( Im really desperate. Help!

That sounds tough. If your school can't drop it or label your grade as a W, definitely e-mail NU and tell them your situation.

Good luck!

well the letter says admission is contigent upon successful finish of my senior year courseload... if I drop the course or label it as a W, should I still go head and email NU as the person in the recent thread did?

your parents need to be involved in this...

beg for a make-up. then go to your counselor with your parents...

I think NU won't rescind your admissions as long as they are told what is going on but do anything you can to fix this before it comes to that.

I agree that you need to get your parents involved. I can't believe a teacher would be so punitive as to disallow a re-take when a college admission is at stake. Question: how did you miss the test and not know it??

i live by myself so I cant get my parents involved, nor I wish to. trust me - I begged. His reason is that by allowing me to make up the exam, it would be extremely unfair to other students and he would not be preparing me for college - so I said but if you don't let me, then I wont go to any! His response to that was "well then - you will have to work your butt off so you can get that C."
English is particularly frustrating! If the class was Calc, I can really study my butt off and aim for an A+, but english essays and tests are graded arbitrarily!

Well thats enough for my whining.

Any other actions I should take? Should I email NU ASAP about my situation and hope NU will understand or should I really work my butt off as my teacher says, and aim for at least a C-, and then hope NU won't rescind my admission???

or maybe drop the course or have it shown as a W and hope NU will understand??? Gosh I feel really terrible

Yes! Do ALL Of the above (your teacher might cut you some slack in other unspoken ways to make sure you get that "C"). Email NU and call NU. Talking a person live is better than an email, IMHO.

Good luck.
