hey, i just got my oct sat scores and i got
770 math
800 cr
800 writing

2370 overall. It was my first time taking it, and I am a junior in high school in California. I have to admit, I'm pretty disappointed about the math because that is usually my strongest point and I have a feeling I must have made some silly mistakes.
I'm in full IB, have a pretty strong extra curricular(indian classical vocal, 11 years, have done paid performances,, and have a 5.0 weighted GPA. I've gotten 5's on AP tests for computer science and european history and in the next two years will be taking ap tests for biology, us history, lang/composition, spanish, calc bc, government/econ, physics, etc. as well and various subject sats.
I want to go into premed at stanford and I was wondering whether i should shoot for a 2400 in my sats...would it make a difference? and if anybody has any other tips for what else i can do to boost up my application I would really appreciate it. i have 50 volunteer hours and am doing an internship this summer as well as a CAS project and IB extended essay, and I am in(but on the board of) Leo club and glee club.but i would REALLY appreciate any extra help.

Despite the fact that you are obviously ■■■■■■■■, I’m going to humor you: NO GETTING 30 POINTS HIGHER WON’T HELP. If you retake a 2370 colleges are really going to wonder about your mental state.

If you’re ■■■■■■■■, HAHA, very funny. If not, PLEASE get some professional help. Either way, you should really get off this forum and get a life.

i honestly am not ■■■■■■■■. my parents are insisting that i take it again and i just wanted some other opinions. and i have a life, thank you very much.
and trust me, i go to a school where it is not unusual to retake above a 2300. i know quite a few people who have.

Tell your parents to save the $50 bucks that they want to spend in retaking the SAT and use it to buy you a hoodie when you get into Stanford or some other awesome college then. You really shouldn’t retake; your score is amazing.

thank you. i really appreciate your help. i’m sorry if i came off a bit rude in the last post - i’m honestly just tired and fed up of my parent’s constant harping and i really needed some outside opinions. i also wanted to make sure i wasnt crazy for thinking my parents were crazy :)

absolutely. its a crime to get anything lower than an A- and people burst into tears at the mention of a B. it just creates a really bad atmosphere.

I have a friend who was upset that she got a 97 on a test the other day because “she easily could have gotten 100 if she had just not made that one stupid mistake.”

me too :]
the worst part to me is that I’m not immune to it -
if everybody starts freaking out about low As, then I will too and after a while, you just start to lose touch with reality.
case in point - my three best friends, their sat scores? 2400, 2360, 2320. the last two are retaking in january.
