Hey guys, I am in dire need of help with signing up for classes. I wasn't able to attend orientation and so I am in a bit of a predicament. Just recently I tried to sign up for some classes to no success. Every class that I tried to sign up for had a prerequisite of taking a placement test and so I am not currently enrolled for any classes. If it is any help I am trying to do premed by majoring in health sciences or bioengineering. How can I fix this and sign up for some classes before they are all full and also how do I check my slug mail. Thanks again everyone for any help.

You should probably call a counselor.

The college counsellors I spoke to (from Cowell) were super, super helpful. They answered a lot of my questions about classes and schoolwork but also about UCSC and campus life in general.

Assuming u already created a slugmail account, what I do us google “slugmail” then click the first kne then click the login for slugmail.

slugmail.ucsc.edu

You can search for your core class. It’s mandatory first quarter and they will always have space for you.
What college are you affiliated to?

If you want to be a Health Sciences or Bioengineering major you’re going to need to take the Math Placement test if you want to get into any of the required courses for those major unless you’ve gotten a 3 or higher on any of the AP Calc tests. You can register for your core course it is mandatory that you take it first quarter of your first year. I would say that since you didn’t take the placement test you should enroll in some GE courses.

Im going to be affiliated with crown college on the Galileo floor. Thanks guys for the help, also if classes are full is there any way to still get in them.

Oh boy! I was in Galileo last year. Nice place. Look for my mural on the first floor landing. :]

You can always email a professor, explain your situation, and ask for a permission code for their class. If you are going to take Math 3 or Math 19A, Bauerle is teaching them and he is very good about accommodating students in need of his class.

you going to be at the Galileo house? Me too!

Hey guys, thanks again for all your help, what counselors would I contact in order to resolve the issues I am having.

Ryanpan I’ll see you in a month, college is going to be ludicrous and lurid.

Well, if you’re a freshman, your college counselor would probably be the most helpful.
