help with college selection of a pre-dental student please?

Hello everyone, I’m a rising senior with below average stats: 1200 on SAT and 3.63 weighted GPA. This is my second year in the States (immigrated from Iraq), I dealt with bullying and stalking and as a result my low GPA. My GPA got better after I moved schools.
I’m in a dual enrollment program now, by the time I graduate high school I’ll have over 60 credits.
I’m mostly applying to California schools (in state) as a biology major (and a spanish minor) . I want to pursue dental school after I graduate and my school list for now:
University of Redlands (match)
Loyola Marymount (match)
University of San Francisco (match/reach)
Most of the UCs (except Berkley) (mostly reach?)
San Jose state university (safety)
University of the Pacific (reach)
Do you think I should add more or less CA schools? I’m looking for schools that are affordable, ones I could get a good GPA for dental school and get a decent college rec letter.
I want your opinion on applying to Texas schools as well (Texas dental schools are very cheap compared to other states’ dental schools, they only admit Texan residents tho)
I don’t know which Texas schools are worth applying to with my stats.
Thank you very much!

Why are you thinking about Texas at all at this point? You would need to become a Texas resident before applying to dental school there.

You would not become a Texas resident just by going to undergrad in Texas. Your parents would have to move there. Where do your parents live?

Do you have a green card?

How much will your parents pay for college each year?

@happymomof1 @mom2collegekids my mother and I live in California now, she will move in with me if I go to Texas. I don’t have a green card yet but I pay in state money for dual enrollment.
My mother expects to pay 20K max per year. Thank you for replying.

That won’t be enough. Your mom would have to move there a year before you applied. You would ALREADY have to be a resident of Texas at the time of application to their dental school for you to apply.

Am I making things clear? Right now, you qualify for instate rates in Calif because you’re attending a Calif high school. If you graduate from a Calif high school, then you’ll get instate rates at a Calif public Univ.

Your mom would have to move to Texas before your sophomore year of college to establish residency, so that when you applied to Texas dental schools (during summer between junior and senior years), you’d have residency.
