Help with computer, please

Ok so i was trying to watch a news click on windows media player and its says "cannot perform operation memory is low". I dont know how to fix it. I dont have any videos in my file/harddrive. Could someone help? Thanks./

The memory it is referring to is not in your harddrive, it is referring to the RAM that you have. I would suggest checking the processes that you have running by way of the task manager, and see if there are any processes using a rather large amount of memory that you can do without.

If you are running Firefox as well, I suggest that you see if the firefox.exe process is using up the most amount. Firefox has a memory leak that keeps the amount of memory it uses increasing during a use until it is ended and then started up again.

Haha ok i neglected to mention that im not great with computer/technical stuff . I have know idea how to do any of that and it sounds like jibberish to me lol.

To re-state what Nintyfresh said in simpler terms:
If you're using windows:
hit ctrl+alt+delete, go to "task manager" and hit "end task" for any programs that you aren't using.

Ok thanks a lot thats a big help :)

Or, restart if that doesn't work. That works for 95% of Windows problems.

We need more information:

desktop or laptop?

What program is the video clip running (Quicktime or Windows Media player)?

How much memory does your machine have?

Do you have a separate video card? How much memory does it have?

Ok first
* desktop
*WIndows Media
*Not sure
*I dont think so

And no it didnt work. I dont know which processes to end and i dont want to get rid of important ones and mess up my computer. I'll try restarting though. But could u give me any tips on how to identify which processes are expendable and not-s0-important. Im sorry to be a hassle, but thanks.

The "low memory" error message in Windows Media Player may be an indication of a computer virus running in the background. Try running an anti-virus checker to see if this is the case.

Good Luck!
