Help with FAFSA/CSS

Hey guys,

I filled out the Renewal Application for the 2007-2008 FAFSA and the CSS Profile this year, but I can't submit either because I don't have information on my parents' income tax and itemized deductions.

The FAFSA "Help" says the following about question 80 on Income Tax.

This question cannot be left blank unless the student's parents will not file a tax return.

I can't advance from here.

How am I supposed to get around this? My parents are going to file their taxes in April, but the FAFSA is due this Friday, March 2nd.

Help please!
Thanks!

just fyi, the fafsa/css recommended deadline was jan 20, so get this doen quickly! You're supposed to estimate everything based on your 2005 returns if your 2006 taxes aren't filed yet. Ask your parents waht they think they've made or somehting like that, it will suffice

I thought the January 20th deadline was for prospective students only.

I'm a returning student, and USC's been inundating me with mail to get the FAFSA and CSS Profile done by March 2nd.

If I enter estimated numbers into the fields now, can I change them later?

well im a new student, but USC told me that if parents have not yet completed returns that i should enter estimates and then send in the exact numbers in april.

oh ur a returning student, thats fine then. USC automatically updates the css/fafsa for you once you fax them the real tax returns when ur parents are done...for now though you have to estimate
