At my high school, we have two hours for electives. I am taking four years of Spanish, so that will take up one hour, each year, for a full year. Therefore, I only have one hour for electives left. In ninth grade, I have to take Gym and Personal Health, which takes up a full year. Now I only have one hour, for 3 years left.
Here is a list of electives I want to take:
AP Chemistry
AP Biology
Western Civilization
Nutrition Ed.
College Writing
Debate (1 semester)
Art Foundations (1 semester)
Keyboarding/Information Processing (1 semester)
AP Psychology
AP Environmental Science

Which ones should I take? I want to become a Surgeon.

If you want to be as prepared as you can for becoming a surgeon, then I would definetly recommend AP biology, and maybe the nutrition one. I wouldn’t take keyboarding, at my school it was the “Let’s try the J key. Use your right index finger…” kind of thing. Maybe yours is different? Also keep in mind that having a bit of variety is a great thing. Taking electives you think will help you with a future career may not be the best way to go, because when you get to college your ideas may change. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it also seems you haven’t even started high school yet…your ideas of where you want to go in life may do a total 180. Mine did. Also, even if you are 100% sure you want to be a surgeon, then taking a class that really has nothing to do with it is great. It lets your mind grow. Those are my thoughts…good luck deciding!

It really depends on what interests you. If you want to be a surgeon, then take AP Bio, AP Chem, and AP Environmental. But if you opt for College Writing, your chances of becoming a surgeon aren’t lessened.

For me personally, I would take AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Psychology, and take writing classes and workshops outside of school.
