Hey guys,

I am a rising senior and I have been prepping for the October ACT. I took the one is June and I really scared by what I got. My Math subscore was a 21 and my Science was a whopping 17. I would really like to increase both scores to 30. What can I do? I learn well through video but I can't find anything that covers all the math material. Science seems more like a matter of practice but i'd be accepting of advice as well.

Sup.

hadn’t taken act yet but I’m getting 34-36 in math and science. The humanity subjects are a different story (28-32 :()

Science:
Got the right idea - practice is key.

For graphs and data Try different strategies. Some people just go right to the questions. I’m a fast reader so I kind of like reading the passage even though it’s not needed.

For experiment questions just get the basic jist of it. I take notes to the side: usually writing the variables involved. Depends what the experiment is for me (if it’s a physics experiment I can go straight to questions)

On arguing scientist again take notes to the sides. Nothing fancy - just 2-3 words reminding you what their saying. I underline things that sound nerdy they I have no idea what it is" too.

POE is super overpowered on science section. You should always be able to eliminate 2 NO. Also look for switches" - when answers say the opposite thing one of those is probably right.

Math:
This is the hardest section to improve on IMO cause you actually have to know math. No tricks really.

I suggest watching khan academy precalculus videos and doing some exercises from a prep book of your choice.

There is one tip I got: every geometric figure on the act IS drawn accurately DESPITE WHAT THE ACT GUYS SAY. So if an angle looks like its greater than 90 degrees, it is.

I would buy the book 1926 PR. It’s helped me with English section a lot. It is a little harder I think than actual test but it is relevant.
