Help with the nervousness

Hi,

I applied to MSB this year for undergraduate degree. I had sent my application in the last week of December. Since then it has been just once when I was contacted by the Admission office regarding confirmation of my application and interview.

Can anyone help me to tell when the results be announced?

^ the same for my D!! And Georgetown is her dream school! she is very anxious! not a single word from them.. but she had a wonderfull interview! the best of the best.. she said! she has hope but still......silence is killing us!

I think we can expect letters (depending on your location) in 2 weeks, and by no later than April 1. EA letters came early to many parts of the Northeast, so I'm guessing that will happen again. However, if you're not from the Northeast I can't really gauge whether you will receive yours early...but definitely by April 1.

lp1391...I hope you're right...haven't received much contact either, although I have been trying to keep them updated as much as possible.

I hope they release decisions soon...I can't wait any longer. My interview was just fine, seeing that it took place in the middle of my exams.

Talk about being nervous - I was deferred EA so I'm just waiting for them to reject me RD. I have other schools that have accepted me and I should be honored that some of them want me, but I thought GU was perfect. I hope that all the letters come on the same day so that when GU says "no", there will be a letter that says "yes" to make me feel a little better. (And I just have to whine a little here, I have great stats and ECs, why won't GU take me, boo hoo!)

My son was deferred also. He sent an additional "letter of intent". We thought he had a great package...he is anxiously waiting...I wish they would let us know sooner. Some of the schools are sending them out by March 26.
Keep hope alive!!! Good luck, everyone!

Best of luck everyone.....I don't have good stats and I am an international seeking financial aid. I am already waitlisted at one univ and have been accepted at SUNY Binghamton (not very good), so its all falling on me like a bad dream. I wish it soon finishes off.......:(

I am a blue eyed, blonde haired girl from a northeast suburban public school. Everyone keeps telling me that it isn't that my grades and EC's aren't good enough, but that I am a "dime a dozen" and GU is looking for someone with a "hook." Maybe they will see that I'm still very much interested and find an extra spot for me.

All,

It's important to remember that Georgetown acceptance letters come in a small envelope. Don't be discouraged to not receive a package from the school. Maybe they do this to increase the anticipation, but regardless of the admissions decision, it will come in a small envelope.

Good luck everyone!

^ What he's saying is, don't through out the envelope without opening it. ;)

Butternut, welcome back to the Georgetown forum! I haven't seen you here in a while, although you are omnipresent on the Yale board.

GeorgetownAlum, welcome to CC. It is always nice to have alumni around to answer questions, and most everyone on this board shares a good feeling about Georgetown. In fact, several of us (including myself) are going to DC a week from today for accepted students' weekend. Did you ever do any program after being accepted during your senior year of high school?

PSWIB,

Hi and Thanks for the welcome! I believe what you are referring to is GAAP weekend (Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Weekend). I assume you will be going with your family? Let me tell you a little bit about GAAP weekend from the perspective of the Georgetown students.

This weekend is a lot of fun and the daily activities are aimed to welcome you to the campus and make new friends. Many people meet over GAAP weekend will keep in touch over facebook over the summer. As you know, it's intimidating going away to school and knowing a few people before you get there is a big plus.

This weekend is also an opportunity for many "pre-frosh" to get their first experience of college night life. I encourage you to escape from the parents at night and do a little exploring. Go to the Henle Apts or Village A rooftops. Explore the neighboring blocks around the front gates and see if you can get into some parties. Obviously, it's a lot easier as a girl, but Georgetown students are very welcoming of other Georgetown students at their parties. In fact, Georgetown is one of the only schools I know of in which you will rarely ever have to pay for a cup at a party, which is really indicative of how close the student body tries to be.

But... do not get too drunk, do not make a fool of yourself, do not get arrested, and do not wind up in the hospital. No one likes a drunk mess and we used to love passing stories about the prefrosh that would get totally obliterated and get taken back to their parent's hotel by DOPS (campus police.) Obviously, I can't encourage underage drinking, but do your best to see what the nightlife and party scene is like! It is an integral part of student life and one that will not be advertised during the afternoon functions.

I never went to GAAP weekend. I did an overnight visit when I was deciding on what school I was going to visit. Unfortunately, they restricted me to a Sunday night to ensure that I wouldn't be privy to all the college debauchery. Nevertheless, my freshman roommate met his best friend at GAAP weekend and loved it. Enjoy the experience, and let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck and congrats!

Great! Thanks for all the info.

If GAAP weekend is next week, I guess it is only for those admitted early - will they have another for regular admits? Thanks

There will be two GAAP Weekends after the Regular Decision letters arrive: the weekend of Saturday, April 18 and the weekend of Saturday, April 25.

I would just hang in there and relax. Maybe call and check your admissions status if you can. Remember, if you don't get in, you can always transfer. The chances increase for transfers.
