i have been deferred, i got my quarter grades about 7 weeks ago, i had a 4.2 an 1 A, 1 A-, 1 B+, and a B. So I guess according to Michigan gpa it would be a 3.5. The current classes are AP CALC, AP BIO, AP GOVT, and English Comp. So 4.2 weighted/3.5 Michigan gpa. Should i send them my old quarter grades or wait 3 weeks to get my semester grades. I'm not sure how good my semester grades will be im assuming they will be around the same as my quarter grades. Also should i write a letter to Michigan telling them that i am very interested in going there and will attend if accepted? I went to a month long debate camp over the summer there, should i tell them how much i enjoyed it yada yada yada? also am i wasting my time? My Michigan gpa was somehwere around a 3.25 and i have a 1260 altho my dad is allum if thats worth anything...

If your grades are an improvement, they are always worth sending (not to mention, it's required for deferred students I think). Just send whatever grades you get. I believe semester grades are required, and I don't find any advantage in sending quarter grades separately. I'm not sure about umich, but many ivies and private schools will read that extra material and usually look favorably upon it. If you're passionate about going to Michigan, I'd do it. If they dont read it, you just wasted a little time, but maybe it will help.
