Time is running out and I need to make a decision! It's coming down to Mac, Connecticut College and Skidmore. I'm from the east coast and I don't know what to do. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a college you can cross off your list? How about giving scores for different living and academic attributes you think are important. Going through the exercise may help you figure out what’s most important to you. They are in very different geographic areas. Mac is in a cool urban area. What attracted you to these schools in the first place?

All great schools. Choose one department and compare course descriptions in their online catalogs.

Just one opinion here, but I would put Mac above Conn College. Conn College kids struck me as “too cool for school” when we visited there. D attended class and was not impressed. The Mac students seem more focused academically, and also more engaged in the world. Have never been to Skidmore, so can’t speak to that.

Mac has better academics than both Skidmore and Conn College. Daughter’s friend was academically bored at Conn College. Conn however has excellent art/film.

Thank you so much for all your replies. They have all been very helpful to me and hopefully I will come to a final decision soon!

I went to Skidmore for a year, and am familiar with ConnColl. Mac is a more academic school, has superior sciences and is generally more global and social-justice oriented. Skidmore and ConnColl will have more regional (East coast) flavor and very prep school oriented, whereas Mac is more global. Midwest is more welcoming. AND MAC IS IN THE CITY. The other two are in small college towns.

For academics, choose Mac.

If you want easy access to internships, Mac is great. You can do them in either St. Paul or Minneapolis and get there via public transportation. That’s one benefit in going to college in a city. At the same time, Minnesotans really are incredibly nice.
