Help!!!

Hi,

I'm from Ireland I am thinking about going to Pepperdine. Can people tell me how I apply and is pepperdine a good school?

Hi, I’m a high school senior and I recently applied. I’m still waiting on a decision, though. The application process at Pepperdine is not the easiest when compared to a lot of state universities, but could be much more difficult. To apply, I had to submit an application, a high school transcript, two letters of recommendation, and an ACT/SAT score. However, I am unfamiliar with policies on international applications, so you should check their website to see if they will require anything else from you. The application can be sent in online. I’m not sure whether or not they have a special Pepperdine application, but they accept the Common Application, which can be found at commonapp.org. Irritatingly, unless you can get a waiver, there is an application fee, which was not exactly cheap.

The application entails filling in information about your classes and extracurriculars, as well as a spot for a short essay. Pepperdine also has a supplemental page to the application, in which you write two more short essays and fill them in on the sorts of things you want to get involved in at their campus. (Personally, I thought the word limits on all of the essays were to short, so it was kind of difficult to say everything I wanted to.)

The recommendations are pretty straightforward. They want one to be from a teacher to attest to your academic skill, and one from someone else to tell them about your character. I spoke with a Pepperdine admissions counselor, and she said that, when they review an application, they look for academic excellence, leadership, and community service, with academics being weighed more heavily than the other two.

Since I applied, and am eagerly awaiting an admissions decision, I like to think that Pepperdine is a great school. US News and World Report ranked them as #50 in the US, which is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you consider that there are over 4,100 colleges in the United States. Still, whether or not it is a good school for you depends on what you want to major in, as well as what kind of environment you are comfortable in.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I want to major in sports medicine & do a pre med with that. I’m also an athlete and would be applying for an athletic scholarship. Do you know if they give full ride scholarships to athletes?

You can read about recruitment here:

Sorry, I don’t know anything about their sports medicine program, other than that the booklet they sent me says its their third most popular major. I guess that implies it’s a good school for that?

Ok thanks. I’m glad you have answered my questions. It’s a confusing process I think
