Hi, I'm currently a freshman at the University of Michigan. I really messed up this year with my classes, and I believe I'm going to be ending freshman year with a 3.2 :/ I know, really bad. What brought me down was my English class. Right now, my hope is to go to medical school but I'm not sure that I can recover from this. Should I give up and try achieving something else?

PS: I have a few extracurriculars such as marching band and my Christian group and hoping to be plugged into more as sophomore year starts.

Any sort of input would be helpful! Thanks!

You’ve made a bad start, but it’s hardly fatal. Plan on applying to med school after senior year and taking a gap year to give yourself more time to remediate your GPA.

Its not end of the world. If you keep up the GPA, getting mostly A’s, you will be fine. The minimum targe for GPA and SGPA is arround 3.6

Worst case scenario is you apply for DO schools.

Forget med. School for a moment. What is wrong with your English? Writing skills are very important. While you will use very little of UG science in Medical School, your writing skills will be required over and over agaim along with other communication skills. I would focus on improving English…a lot.
