Help.

I recently got kicked out of cal state fresno , for one that college sucks, and i was out of state so i had alot on my mind, trying to get a job for a whole year , in which i never got one, worrying about money and on and on . when i got kicked out i was pretty happy. the whole location is terrible . i had to come back to my parents in which i wasn't to happy about but whatever. i still want to go to college , i just think fresno was a bad choice for me besides partying , smoking or drinking there is nothing to do there. homework was never a problem it was the exams, and i know how to fix that now. i'm going to be going to a local CC to get my gpa up for a semester and transfer into another college in california ( im currently in south carolina ) but my question is, is it worth it . my gpa sucks ass right now. currently a 1.28 , i know , i know it sucks but i have to believe i can bring it up. retake some classes, get above a 3.5gpa this semester and i should have a good chance . but is it worth it to transfer to california, i would qualify for in state, and i feel like its a place i can call home, but what im questioning is my chances to transfer to a cal state college . fresno is out cause it sucks , i was looking at cal poly , i know its a tech school but my major is computer science , would i have a chance? any help would work at this point . thanks

If you want to be a CA resident for tuition and fees, then get yourself back there right now, and work for a year or so to establish that residence. Then start over at a CC in CA, and complete the transfer program that will get you into a CSU that you like.

You are going to almost have to go to a CC for at least a year and likely two. One semester is really probably not going to do it . Either way, you are putting a lot of monetary pressure on yourself by going to California, aren’t you? Either you have to work for a year and live on your own with only a high school diploma, or you pay out of state tuition. I know it isn’t what you want to hear, but would your dreams be okay with finishing college in South Carolina and then moving to California? If not, it seems like you are really making it tougher on yourself than it has to be. College is hard enough without having to try to work nearly full-time.

Weigh the costs vs. benefits of California. You can do it if you think it’s worth putting in double the effort in cc and save up money. Ask yourself if you really want it for yourself or would rather make it easier on yourself for the next few years. Good for you for trying to leave home, so many people get stuck where they were planted.

i hear what you guys are saying . and after some intensive research haha on collegeboard i found that i dont have enough credits to be considered a college sophomore, i was saying one semester so i could transfer as a sophomore. the cc my parents want me to go to is 25 minutes away . i understand parents want to be close to me but you guys know going to a place you dont know is an exciting experience. maybe california is not good right now for me but later on it will be when i have money . then the university is also 25 minutes away , not to be mean or anything but one of the reasons i went cali was to get away from home . explore . . i was thinking maybe florida . the university of tampa maybe . idk
