i got in
how do i make the 250 dollars deposit to reserve my seat?
thank you

Congratulations. I'd suggest emailing the admissions office with your concerns. I assume you are asking about what currency to use.

We sent a check to the admissions office address on the letter. You might be able to go to a bank and have a money order drawn on US currency for the amount. I'd think travelers checks in US dollars might work, too.

To be safe, though, email the admissions office first.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends in these difficult times. I hope you and your family are safe.

Sincerely,

Bill

Yeah! Abhay!

Congratulation! See ya in Swat next year!

-How is it in Nepal? Is there any mailing restriction?

Wish ya the best!

can i deposit the amount using a credit card?
what is the bank account no?

Abhay, you can e-mail and ask the office, but you should eventually get a letter by snail mail with all the info and instructions where and how to send your check. I don't think you can do it whith a credit card. Don't worry, your seat is not going anywhere :)

Congrats on your admission, and good luck.

Congratulations, Abhay!!

Abhay, you can get an international money order. You can get it from any Post Office in Nepal. That's what I'd recommend. But if you have American Express there, you can buy a traveler's cheque and that should work too. The other option is to go to the Central Bank in Nepal and draw a cheque for USD 250 there. I don't know if Nepal has restrictions on how much a person can draw in foreign currency. It used to be there in India but is not true anymore.

cheers congrats!

Congratulations.

I also recommend e-mailing the international admissions officer, informing them that you will be enrolling, and ask what options you have for sending the deposit. They aren't going to give away your spot if you can't get the deposit to them within 7 days.

Also, I would strongly urge you to e-mail the "student ambassadors" at Swarthmore from Nepal. I believe that all of them are from your school. By striking up a conversation, you will have an instant comfort level and "community" when you arrive next fall. More importantly, there will be many things (such as deposit checks) that are unique to your situation. By getting to know these students (and perhaps even their parents in Nepal), you will have a tremendous resource of information on all the details of a Nepalese student attending Swarthmore.

I give the same general advise to US students (making contacts with other Swatties). However, I think it is particularly important in your situation.
