I know there was a forum about hotels in Boston, but I’m having a really hard time finding it again.

So, I need a hotel for the open house next week.
Is there any chance anyone knows of a GOOD hotel that won’t bust my budget?

And, I’m only 17, and I may have to go by myself, will that be a problem?
And therefore, I need to find a hotel that’s within the city itself, since I will not be driving there and will not be able to rent a rental car for that weekend.

I’m from Chicago by the way. =]

Try the Buckminster Hotel. It's in Kenmore, essentially at BU. There aren't any "cheap" hotels in Boston. Not high end, but clean.

Try the Copley Square Hotel. Not as close but in Back Bay. It's safe, another older hotel that isn't high end.

There are a number of inns and guesthouses in Brookline. Try the Beacon Inn, for example. The one at 1087 Beacon is a few minutes walk from BU south. You could also try the Holiday Inn in Brookline. BU has put students up there for fall term for several years.

I typically stay at a Fairfield Inn about 25 minutes from the campus, outside of Boston. It is located in Dedham. There is also another one in Woburn about the same distance away. Both are very reasonable considering their proximity to the city. These hotels are usually guaranteed to have rooms available. If you want to stay a bit closer, there is a Days Inn on Soldiers Field Road, which is very close to BU. I stayed there before my Open House freshman year. Rates are about 140 which is great for the city. Try the Days Inn. It is very affordable and very close to campus.

Ask your parents to try finding you a room on Priceline. You can pick the area you want to stay in and make a bid (info on how to do this can found at a site called better bidding dot com - try googling it). I was able to get a room at the Back Bay Hilton, less than a mile from BU for $80. Good luck!

Oh I assumed he was driving there. Ok, if you can't drive, I would recommend the Midtown Hotel. It is right in the center of the city, and it is surprisingly cheap. The opposite of luxury, but that isn't what you need. Check that place out.

Yeah. I'd be more concerned about the 17 yr old thing. Be very careful to call the hotel before you make the reservation and make sure it's okay and check on what you need.
