Help!!!

I got deferred to Spring at Berkeley and was wondering what do I need for an appeal... and how I should approach it. My stats for being deferred are as follows:

SATI: 2270 (reading 740, math 800, writing 730)
SATII: Chemistry 800; Physics 800; Biology 750; Math IIC 780;
Unweighted GPA: 3.875
Weighted GPA: 4.08

How are my chances for having a successful appeal to the fall semester? Btw, I have been told that the format for appeals really is not set in stone - I do not necessarily have to send in letters of recommendation. Input? Thanks.

i don’t think there is an appeal process for changing a spring admission to a fall admission.

you got into berkeley. relax and rejoice. don’t push your luck.

what was your major veggietalk?

i think i saw you on facebook, i responded overthere

economics. college of letters and science.
but im thinking about transferring to college of engineering.

From what I hear, it’s pretty hard to transfer to CoE.

Definitely much easier to change out of CoE than to change into it…

hmm thats what i thought too. is there any way that i can double major business and engineering?

those are high scores for in state, it’s because you applied for engineering. if you applied for l&s you would totally be in.

EDIT: i just saw you did L&S…why did you get deferred? i meet people with 1900 sat scores who got in fine

yeah…ive no clue…thats why i want to appeal…any tips? @.@

damn son it must be your essay. you need to show something compelling - I would honestly send in letters…although I don’t know if they’ll actually move it up.

tiny bit of hope hahaha. alright thanks so much!

i heard it’s pretty hard getting out too once you start and feel like engineering isn’t the right thing for you…=</p>

what’s your ethnicity? also, what’s your parents’ education level?

Send in the appeal and then reserve your space in the FPF program. Also, send in a housing deposit because sometimes spring admits do get assigned to campus housing with fall admits. The benefits of spring admit is that you can live on or near campus, participate in all of the same activities as fall admits (same privileges, game day tickets, etc.), and you get to take your fall classes through the FPF program. I have heard that those classes are fairly easy so will likely start your spring at Cal with a nice high GPA. They admitted you because they want you to be a student there. Being a spring admit is not looked down on at Cal… no one will really notice you are a spring admit unless you tell them. And no one at Cal will care. Berkeley is a great school. If your appeal doesn’t work out, take the spring admission and make the most of it. It is only 12 or 14 weeks of your life and that first semester will go very fast. Good luck.
