so i got rejected from uc berkeley engineering... SAD FACE. but i decided to appeal. i found out that i never mentioned in my application that i am fluent in three languages (chinese, cantonese, english) and knows basic communication in tibetan.

also. i have recommendations from my two teachers, my college counselor, my school's headmaster, a yale university professor and a berkely alumni. and i have prepared my art portfolio (acrylic, watercolor on canvas + sculptures + photography) and also a recording of my violin piece (performance level, have played for 12 years)

im international. studying on the east coast right now. SAT 2110. TOEFL 119. APUSH (4), AP Bio (5), AP stats (5), AP Cal BC (5), AP art history, AP physics, AP Psych, and plus i take two beyond ap level courses : Multi variable calculus and honors art studio

i also have all certificates for my community service. should be 400+ hrs since 2008 becuz i go to tibet every summer for charity. and im on varsity track team. went to penn relays 4*400 for my school last year.

should i mail them all my materials and additional information? do you guyz think i still have a chance to get into coE. i appplied for industrial engineering.

THANX FOR ANY HELPPPP

Unless you have some significant change in your application to convey, I doubt you stand much of a chance. I think once they decide, they decide. They have only so many slots to fill and, unfortunately, plenty highly qualified candidates for each spot.

With your grades and stats you probably got into some great schools. Is it worth your time and stress to appeal? Maybe it’d be better to just move on? OTOH hey, if you don’t try, you will have no chance at all, so…

Why didn’t you include all that info in your application the first time? Your appeal will just show that you did not take the application process seriously enough to do a good job the first time. Sorry.

I don’t think your reason is a good one. And being OOS very small chance of success.

so usually they admit more cali students in the appeal review???

I appealed at ucsd on the grounds that I never mentioned my verbally abusive father and how much that affected me (I wouldn have but my stats were all higher than the averages from years past) and I still didn’t get in. But if you really care about Berkeley, you should try so you don’t wonder what would have happened. Good luck!

Sure, why wouldn’t you mail your materials and the appeal? Why post this thread in the first place; what do you have to lose? lol

Sorry to say, I went to UC Berkeley and I heard directly from admissions that almost no one gets in under appeal. That being said, go for it! Try to prove you are worth it, it can’t hurt (except your pride if you are not accepted).
