What would actually constitute a "significant drop in academic performance?"
Okay, so i was accepted SCEA and and first semester i got 5 A's and a B in AP Calc AB
Then this semester I got 4 A's, 1 B, and a D+ in AP Calc AB
I feel that my grade was lowered because since all of the calc ab materials were done with, my teacher started showing us calc bc stuff.
Then the calc bc stuff was our semester final. I am not the best person for math. And also since our tests were on monday's and i work on the weekends i really couldn't study for the tests.
Do you think my offer of admission will be rescinded!?

No, one ‘D’ will not hurt you too bad if the rest are all A’s. This girl at my school was accepted to Notre Dame and had a ‘D’ for her AP chemistry grade her final semester and nothing happened to her. She might have had to explain to the admissions people why her grade was what it was, but that’s all. Adcom usually won’t do anything unless you have all D’s or something ridiculous like that. Anyways, good luck! Congrats on getting into Stanford!

Thanks for replying…and I plan on explaining why to the adcom through the final papers that I have to send in…and thank you!

D may hurt but its a case-by-case thing
stanford and princeton have been known for rescinding admission with only 1 C
i dont mean to worry you but juist being realistic

NJDS: do u have any links or the names of any articles that u can post for me to look at?

Really? Well I’ve read posts from people who did not get rescinded despite having one or more poor grade in their final semester…you might want to search for these threads if you have the time. If I can remember correctly, most of these people got a ‘we are disappointed in you’ note. I know it sounds kind of iffy but this is exactly what I read from another post and I already told you the story about the girl at my school who was in a similar situation as you, so I hope this will give you some hope!

I will definitely keep you in my prayers tonight and I hope everything will work out for you. Good luck!

Wow! optimisticgirl92, u are by far one of nicest ppl I have come across. Thank you for all of your support. It always feels good to be reassured by someone else. I do have hope, in fact I talked to my teacher just today and she let me make up a project that we had to do during this semester. Hopefully I did better this time around. If I do end up getting even a C- it will show up on my transcript as just a C, so that will also look better to the Stanford reviewers than seeing a D. Thank you once again!!

no, one d will not hurt.

but on another note … what papers? lol. i just sent in a transcript.

gregh…u, well ur counselor is supposed to send in the do al year report to Stanford

oops well i didnt.

oh well i hope its ok. the website only told me to send a transcript, not a report.
