Hi guys, this might help clear some of the confusion and also reassure most that the status of your current financial aid is NOT indicative of your admission decision for Fall 2019.
I am a current senior at GMU, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science this May 2019. I applied to the University of Virginia for a second Bachelor’s degree from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (the only school accepting second bachelors candidates). During my time at GMU, I actually applied to transfer to UVA twice before - both instances were for admission to the College of Arts of Sciences. I was admitted there both times but due to personal reasons, decided not to attend. My GPA was above 3.6 during both application cycles. Although GPA, test scores, and extracurriculars are important for admission, I think what truly sets you apart is your personal statement.
On another note, on my SIS portal, currently I am only able to view financial aid for 2017 and 2018. Both show “Inquiry Access Denied.” Now, I have no information for 2019 or 2020. These years are not even included as an option. I am not sure what this means, but I am not panicking. What is meant to be, will be!
Furthermore, during past application cycles when I was admitted, my financial aid package was not ready by the deposit deadline. However, I was requested to complete “To-Do” items on the SIS portal. I believe the UVA Financial Aid Office prepares financial aid packages for all students who submitted documents on time, regardless if their admission decision is known or unknown to them. So stop the madness! The speculation will drive you crazy. What is meant to be, will certainly be. We are one week away from knowing the end result.
Wishing everyone a stress-free week
