Helping a Theatrical Scientist

Made a similar thread earlier this month, but I'm looking for more opinions:

I am applying to NU this year, but I am torn between applying to WCAS and applying to SoC. I have two (very different) interests: Earth/Environmental Sciences, which has been a more recent interest, and Theater, which I have been doing for years. I really really really really wish I could do both. I know Student Theater is always an option as an extra-curricular, but I really want the education in Theater as well. So...

Anyone know any way where I could take both subjects? If not, where do you suggest I start out? Let's say I decided to switch later on, how hard is it to transfer between different schools.

Thanks for the help!

Our daughter majored in Theater in SOC, and picked up a minor in Environmental Policy/and major in Political Science. My guess what you want is doable, but because of the limitation of the theater program (only 50 men/50 women)…you will want to apply to SOC, and then seek the second major once you have started school.
I hope this helps-

You cannot double major into the Theater program from WCAS, but you CAN double major into the environmental science program from SoC. This seems like an obvious choice.

This was THE most important piece of information that my daughter got at her high school’s college night from the NU rep. She is double majoring in dance and math (she even did MENU) as an SoC student.

So, to sum everything up, through the SoC, you can basically major through anything in WCAS, you’ve just got to work everything out with your advisor?

^Yes. Certain majors (chem, e.g.) might be harder to work in then others (Philosophy, e.g.) from a pure course count point of view.

What would you say about Earth and Planetary Sciences? Is that too heavy of a major?

It’s about number of courses in the major, not how hard. Philosophy isn’t easy, it’s just small.

Haha, that’s what I meant by “heavy.”
