I am trying to decide which dorm to stay at.

I don't like drinking or partying etc., but I do want to have a social life :)

My priorities:
-being in an environment where I can study/not being around a lot of drunk/loud partiers
-meeting other people/close dorm community

I don't really care about room size.

I was thinking of Henderson because it is substance free, but since so few people stay there, I thought I might not get to meet other people.

I also heard great things about Mcgill, Mudge, and Stever.

Which would you recommend the most to me?

Stever is very good for close dorm community. Because the rooms are quite small in Stever (second smallest of all on campus, in fact), it means that there is a lot of lounge space to compensate. People end up spending most of their times hanging out with each other in the lounges as a result. My floor came to be very, very close with each other and those friendships have lasted well beyond freshman year.

I can’t really comment about your first priority, though. My floor never had any problems with volume or drunkenness or partying, but we also were generally quite reserved (unusually so, maybe even) in that respect. I think that just depends on your luck of the draw, unless you get into Henderson.

thanks so much! I think I’ll make stever my top then.

Can you request more than one roommate?

Just gonna say that back when I was a freshman, I was placed in Donner. We had the largest dorms on campus (I believe), but we still hung out with just about everyone on the hall. The only difference was instead of being in the common room we’d pile into someone’s dorm room (because they were actually big enough for that).
