Here it is... the annual Film Battle: LMU v Chapman

Hi all,

I've spent a fair amount of my time surfing the internet and reading the numerous forums which debate the LMU v Chapman v NYU v USC v etc. etc., but there doesn't seem to be one that's very recent. Given that many people are in the process of getting accepted, I thought now would be a good time to get a new debate started on my personal top choices: LMU and Chapman.

I applied EA to Chapman Film Production and RD to LMU's, and haven't heard back from either yet. Dodge is supposedly beginning to ship out decisions mid-February, and I guess I'll hear back from LMU around april? Anyways, I visited both schools and absolutely fell in love with both - the campuses, locations, size, and academics all seemed to be exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, the chances that I'll get in are pretty slim... but that's not really what I want to discuss. In my wildest dreams (getting into both), I would have a ton of trouble deciding. I know that Film Prod. at Chapman is supposed to be just that much better, but I honestly like LMU's vibe and campus more. I would be ecstatic to attend either school, but I may have to make the decision one day. Am I really going to regret going to LMU for film prod. that much?

Thanks, and best of luck to all who've applied.

When I was at LMU I asked Orrick, the Admissions counselor whether it was best for me to apply EA or regular, and he said regular. And I applied to the Film Prod. with no flaws on the common app. I also spoke to another Admissions Counselor, Tom Gutto, not 3 days ago and mentioned that I applied to Film on the 15th, and he replied and didn’t say I should have applied earlier. Plus, I’m meeting with a member of the board tomorrow for an interview so I should be fine…

I wouldn’t necessarily pick Chapman, but I just don’t want to regret going to LMU … I guess every college/program is going to have people who say it’s great and people who say it’s not… It comes down to personal preference and for me that’s LMU.

I applied to the Film Production program too w/ reg. decision and I think I’m okay for the most part. Good luck w/ your choice. Chapman is a great school so you have to solid choices.

Chapman requires EA for Film Production. LMU recommends it, but did not require it.
