what do u think about the universities and my stats??? matches, reaches?? should i include more? shold i drop some? pleasee help

Your rank is 2 out of how many students??

I don't understand why your GPA is great and your SAT scores aren't higher. With those SATs, I'd say UT, Notre Dame, and Pepperdine are highly unlikely...especially Notre Dame.

Hmm... I'm not a very good when it comes to taking tests... so yeah.. that pretty much screwed me... I'M VERY SLOW! i'm #2 out of 25 and notre dame visited my school and said that for a international applicant... a 1100 on the old test was considered a competitive score...

That's strange. Most top colleges don't lower the bar for internationals, esp those from places like Singapore and China. For example, the SAT range for internationals and US students at Northwestern had been about the same--the internationals had lower verbal score usually but their higher math score pretty much offset the difference.

That's what I thought, but the ND representative told me otherwise... and by the way... El Salvador is nowhere near singapore or china

Being from El Salvador is gonna help alot, but Notre Dame is gonna be a stretch.

The IOWA test is easy. I don't see the pride in stating that on your application (if you will). Otherwise, the SAT's a little ho-hum, but your GPA seems okay.
Gettin' into Penn State will be hard, if you're not a Penn resident, more so for intels. MSU might be a match...
You're not required to take the SAT II's?

i hope being salvadoran helps! yeah... i've talked to the ND lady here in el salvador and she thinks it won't be THAT hard... she didn't say it was going to be easy.... but she didn't think it was IMPOSSIBLE. yeah... haha i pretty much am not going to include the IOWA thing hahahha :P andd no, they don't ask me for sat 2s... and penn state doesn't even ask me for the sats

If you're not good at tests, then how do you have such a great rank and high GPA? That doesn't add up. Also, for business @ UT, you have like not a very good chance. Notre Dame - you're weak.

i swear u ppl don't have a very nice way of saying things.... i'm just not good when it comes to the sat.... i get anxious, i can't concentrate, i think about each question too much and next thing i know the sat administrator is like STOP! sooo yeah..... don't try me make me sound like some sort of liar.... 'cos i'm not. AND I'D REALLY APPRECIATE IF THE NEXT REPLY IS ABOUT THE UNIVERSITIES AND NOT SOMEONE QUESTIONING MY STATS

OH YEAH.. thank you izzy and radar for ur input

I gave you input to the universities...you're not as competitive as other international students. The bar isn't lowered for you, as I guess some colleges informed you of.

For defense, I'd like to tell a story about my friend last year. She had 1100 on the old SAT's. Didn't break 600 for either M or V. And as for her SAT II, they weren't that great either.

HOWEVER, she had a pretty darn high GPA (3.8something?)

She got accepted to all 7 she applied to - Carleton, Macalester, Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan Uni, Clark Uni, Uni of Rochester and Juniata.

So SAT's aren't everything. Her essays were great, her recs excellent, her transcript good.

Apply to where you want to go, make sure you have safeties. Being from Central America is a DEFINITE plus, not to mention the fact that Notre Dame needs diversity. UT (I assume you mean Austin) is gonna be a really high reach.

The SAT scores aren't great, but I think your background and GPA can give you a boost.

Btw, your English is great, I take it you did more than simply take classes at school?

haha thanks for the the compliment about my english... but no. I haven't taken any extra classes or anything... i study at an international school in san salvador where 60% of the students are intls and only 40% are salvadoran... so that pretty much helps. schools here (american schools) are very different from schools in the states. in el salvador you're in one school since kinder up to 12th grade... so i've been in CISS (intl school of san salvador) since I'm like 4 years old, taking all my classes in english except one (we take that one spanish class b/c the government forces bilingual schools to atleast have ONE class in spanish 'cos it would be very sucky if we like didn't learn our language). pretty much we've (students from ciss) have grown in a very american environment... all the teachers are from the states or some other part of the world (my physics teacher is from india and math teacher from the philippines -- it's pretty rough to understand her english) so yeah... that's how it's been.... thanks for askinggg and if at any time i sounded a little show off or boa****l.. it wasn't my intention so please forgive me :P

what in the world is wrong with boast.ful

Just an insight PSU does require SAT reasoning test for non-intl. (I dont see any reason why it would be diff for intl.

and I dont know I guess your location does help alot...because the things other intl.s have are pretty "up there"
