Here's the NASS schedule

Here's the NASS schedule for those parents that did not get to drop off their kids personally at Annapolis yesterday. This paper schedule was handed out when they arrived and my summary of it below should give you an overall view of what they have in front of them this week:

Sat - Drop-off and fun sports (frisbee/soccer/etc) until everyone else arrives. Breifing and dinner starting at 5:30 pm. Intramurals and intercompany/squad time at 7 pm. Taps at 10 pm. Looks like an easy day to start out with.

Sun - up at 5:45 am (they get to sleep in this first day it appears!). PEP (PT?) and formations until 8 am. Breakfast at 8:15 with Church (Mass and Protestant both available/optional) at 9. Noon meal formation. Drilling intermixed with CFA exams starts at 1 pm and goes till dinner at 6:30. Career opportunity briefs afterwards, honor concept discussion, then taps at 10:30 pm.

Mon - 5:15 wake-up call, PRT (?) until breakfast, then a day of Academics it appears (note that when they have a physicaly stressful day they seem to rest-em a bit the next day). Picnic (no formal dance it appears) starts at 5 pm. Taps at 10:30 pm.

Tues - 5:00 am reveille (see, that first day's wake-up at 5:45 really was a sleep-in day!). PEP until an early breakfast at 7 am. Academics up thru and past lunch. They then appear to take a bus trip to DC around 4 pm (references to a USMC sunset parade, Iwo Jima memorial, Arlington, etc.). Taps at 10:30

Weds - this is the tough day - pray for cooler weather (which is currently forcast as 90 F). 5 am reveille. Drill competition untill 7 am breakfast. Academics till lunch. SEA-TRIALS start at 12:30 and run till 8 pm (no mention of dinner - must be MRE's while in the field). SeaTrials end and INDOC night starts right afterwards (only one hour of yelling?) at 9. Ceremony conclusion at 10:30 and taps soon afterwards.

Thurs - 5 am wake-up with a regimental run to get the blood flowing again. Breakfast at 7 am and then they have an hour to packup / cleanup thier rooms. 9 am breifing on Admissions, sports, etc. It's listed that at 11:30 there is the Awards Ceremony, but we were told this was a typo and to be there at 11 am instead (i.e. for those local parents planning to attend). NASS concludes at 12:30 (12?) and the airport buses depart for BWI, etc.

Since my son is in this last Session 3, alot of you actually have already lived thru this stuff BUT this post was for those parents that flew thier kids out to NASS and are anxiously wondering what is going on this week. This forum sure helped us plan for his summer session (all three in fact), and this is my/our way of returning the favor(s). GO NAVY!

Thanks much for the info - our son flew out himself and called Sunday to wish his dad happy father's day. It was hard to get much info out of him, which isn't all that unusual. So far, so good, but then it was early Sunday. Though he couldn't remember what he ate for dinner, just that the food was OK and he was starving. Three meals a day will be light eating for him!

Damn. Wish they had that back in my day.

Glad they have it now! :)
