I Would Just Like To Post That The Class Of 2009 Has Broken The Record Set By '08 And Climbed In 1 Hour 14 Minutes!

All that cockiness waiting to come out until today....huh?
However, you still have to wait until after the recognition ceremony to be frocked! :)

Congrats wheelah44!

1991 did it in 44 minutes. ;)

Congrats! Gotten the lard off ya, yet? :D

I think the Class of 1981 was about an hour and a half.

Some interesting reading:

http://www.usna.org/HerndonPAO.html

The class of 1965 climbed the monument in 3 minutes but apparently used a cargo net. The Class of 1972 climbed the monument in 1.5 minutes but the monument apparently was not greased (or very lightly greased). There seems to be no doubt which class holds the record for the longest time, the Class of 1998 took 4 hours, 5 minutes, and 17 seconds.

Way to go Wheelah44! Congrats to all. See you very soon! :D

Wheelah! Congrats! My eyes weren't even open this morning when the hubby shoved a newspaper at me with the photo of the big event. We kinda laughed to each other & wondered how many black eyes and sore shoulders there are this morning. Anyone get a foot in the eye? LOL

When is the recognition ceremony? So very happy for you guys! WELL DONE!!

USNA81, wasn't the 4h,5m,17s class of '95?

Just to weigh in ....
MY HUBBY's Class was the Class of 1972.....so in MY BOOK grease or no grease...his class wins!

:-)

That longest climb happened in 1995, but it was done by the Class of 1998.

I think I remember reading that they started using less grease after it took them so long.

Mike

wasn't that the year they used so much glue on the dixie cup that it could not be removed? Heard that is now regulated as well! ;)

Good job parents for doing the wave at the plebe ceremony. That was awesome.

May 19, 2006 Washington Post

"It looks good in the beginning, but it gets hard," said Midshipman 3rd Class Jordan Adler."

jadler, you get around! ;)

Actually, I was taking pictures for my company and I happened to be right by the media area and they started asking me questions about Herndon...so no I don't get around, it was just a coincidence.

But, I love how the press can't even get a single quote right...I said it looks easy not "good" in the beginning. I personally hate dealing with them because they never get anything right.

498 Pictures (with help) from Sea Trials + 66 Pictures from Herndon = lots of memories!

Well...I guess im a plebe now.. lol
