has anyone started thinking about/writing their speeches for graduation? does anybody have any good ideas or know of any place that has ideas on how to start? i have less than a month til graduation and i haven't even thought about it yet. i have absolutely no idea where to even begin on this, so any help and advice is welcome. thanks in advance :)

fortunately, my school has people volunteer to give speeches rather than making the val do it.

semi-unfortunately, my school refuses to even acknowledge the valedictorian. not that i want the attention, but nobody cares anyways, so it’d be nice to have like two seconds of recognition. like, clapping or something.

anyways, good luck! don’t be too clich

i have a speech to write and it is due in 5 days. i havent started. i graduate may 18th

Yep. I’ve got to give mine May 17th and I’ve got it written and approved by the superintendent already.

i still have to begin to think about mine. any idea that aren’t so trite??

Is there an awards night? I can see why they wouldn’t interrupt graduation to congratulate one person.

hahahha, the funny thing is, there is an awards ceremony. two different ones, actually. one is “community awards” and one is just in-school ones.

i think they announce the top 10%… in alphabetical order…

whatever. we’ll see.

I’ll do it after AP tests…

(I say that about EVERYTHING) :)

lol my school has anyone with over a 4.0 be val. lol @ there only being 5 vals. 4 of us are speaking in a 10 minute slot during graduation so they split it up. I’m doing the introduction ><.

^^^ my school is the same way. anyone have advice on incorporating teachers/friends who asked you to mention them in your speech? ahaha

^ my advice: don’t do it

The awards night at my school ends with announcing the Senior class in order of rank (or at least everyone that has a GPA over 3.5 or 3.0).

I also think it’s a bad idea to mention people in your speech just because they asked.
