To all the valedictorians

What on earth are you guys going to say in your speeches? Graduation for me is in a little over two weeks yet I don't have any idea's for a speech. Thanks in advance.

When I was Val, I had NOTHING insightful to say. I was fed up with my high school, town, friends, etc., and was afraid that would come out, so I didn't speak! It was great and the Sal. had a great speech instead. Some parents were ****ed at me, which was odd......I don't know what their deal is, but bottom line, it all worked out and I was happy!

I'm pretty much the same as banana, but I was thinking, "I'm a man of few works. ROCK 'N' ROLL!!!." I hope my co-valedictorian makes up for it, after all he's on the speech team ;p.

my speech had a message (never stop learning) that was cliche, but whatever, I "won" speech-giver (at our school we try out to give the speech because in teh past, valedictorians have been reluctant to do it). Don't be funny if you're not naturally funny.

I don't have to give one. We don't have the valedictorians give speeches unless they want to since we base it on unweighted gpa, which gives us 8 total. I like it better this way. Anyone can speak, not just the valedictorians.

I don't have to give one either, though I am sole valedictorian. Instead, my school has a speech contest (read: popularity contest) to determine who'll give the speech at graduation. I would've actually liked to give one if they'd told me earlier, but now I'm very much over high school and DEFINITELY ready for summer...

Yeah i have already decided against being funny. It does not come naturally for me.

I did just want to bounce this idea off of you guys though. Or at least everyone that has watched Narnia. But I remember a scene where Lucy looks across the frozen land and she comments on how big it is. Mrs. Beaver than says "It's the world dear did you expect it to be small". I was thinking of incorporating that quote into my speech and saying something about how we are leaving our small and safe existence to go out into the WORLD. I hesitate though becuase I would feel a little silly using what many consider a kid movie as my high school speech. What do you guys think???

I think that's a great quote.

pilebay, that's an awesome idea. I'd also recommend a children's book by Munro Leaf, called "The Story of Ferdinand". It has a really great message for graduates.
