Hey! Got a Minute? Will Return the Favor!

Hey! Georgetown is my dream school. I really want to become a Foreign Service Officer. What would you say my odds of getting in are?
I have a 4.0 GPA, 34 ACT, 9 AP’s (all 4s and 5s), a job as a political staffer for a local judge, going to work as a poll clerk, probably NMSF, Furman Scholar, HPU scholar, NaNoWriMo winner, youth mentor, AIDS refugee worker, President of school MUN/PolySci/HistorySociety/EnglishSociety, and awesome Letters of Recommendation.
I would really appreciate advice about what you think my chances are.
Also, does anyone know what the financial aid situation is for divorced parents? Do they look at only the custodial parent’s income or the income of both, whether or not the other parent is in the picture?

Would appreciate advice?

Hey! Thought I’d drop down this helpful link http://www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Georgetown-SAT-scores-GPA
PrepScholar calculates chances based on ACT score and weighted GPA so I thought that would be of use
Your extracurriculars seem very relevant and showcase that you have a genuine interest in studying Foreign Service and government. I’d say you have a pretty good chance!

Sorry, here is a similar link for ACT scores http://www.prepscholar.com/act/s/colleges/Georgetown-ACT-scores-GPA

I never did understand this ‘chance me and I’ll chance you back’ thing. If you can’t evaluate your own candidacy, how are you to accurately and meaningfully evaluates those of others? It is a fruitless exercise at any rate, as you will never gain access to the thought processes of the committee, nor the relative strength of other applicants. For your own sake, please take my advice and don’t do ‘chance me’s.’ They help no one, they create stress, and peoples’ evaluations are inaccurate 90% of the time - they mainly lead to heartbreak.

Apply wherever you want to. With your stats (great GPA and scores and APs) you’re sure to be a wonderful candidate and many ‘elite’ schools. Send applications all over the spectrum - from Georgetown to your flagship state school’s honors program - and see where the road leads. I feel you will do well in this process if your essays and ECs remain equally as impressive as your quantitative stats. Best of luck.
