Hey New Yorkers

If you're an admitted student living in the NYC Metro area, holler back. At the end of the summer, the UVA Club of NY will be hosting a send-off party for you guys before you start your first year. This is a way for all the New York Wahoos to meet each other. We'll probably get a list with your addresses from the Admissions Office anyway, but I just want to make sure we don't miss anyone.

If you don't hear from us, you can also reach our Club Executive Director at uvanyc@uvanyc.org.

I once read that UVa and Yale share the same build in NYC. Is that true?

yes they share the same building. its on vanderbilt--its actually really nice...although very pretentious, regardless of what the website says ;-).

I find it funny that people think the Club is pretentious. I've always liked it. It's like Cheers where everyone knows your name. I like going to the gym or the bar and seeing a bunch of folks you went to school with.

Re. the party, I'm not sure it will take place at the Club. We usually try to keep it casual. Last year, an alum with a huge apartment hosted the party. In years past, we've also done it at a bowling alley and at a picnic/softball game in Central Park.

Is there a fee to belong to the club? Is it like the Princeton Club which has hotel type rooms and really nice dining area?

My D is going this fall, we live by the Jersey Shore about 1hr from the City. Will we be invited? We would really like to go.

vistany,

yes there is a fee--depending on where you live and how long you've been graduated for it ranges from something like $100/yr to like $600/year. It's very much like the princeton club--its a hotel, dining area, gym, meeting rooms, etc. Its really nice--and in a great location.

Crazyadad, I'll mention it to our committee and get back to you. NJ alums might have something similar planned for you guys. If not, it shouldn't be a problem for you to join us.

Wow Jags!
One more benefit of going to UVa. Gosh, I hope my s gets in.
