<p>i got in for spring too but i dont really see myself as second rate...i see the process as really random...I mean i seen some guys on here with like 2200+ on SAT getting put in spring while other less qualified people are getting into fall. Maybe they flip a coin like UCLA does. either way i didnt expect to get into berk so spring is not bad :)</p>

<p>its a chance to get a cal education, no doubt about that. But it comes with some strings, so you need to know yourself. At the end of the road you have the same cal diploma as everyone else, no stamp on it that says "spring admit". But there's no doubt that people are more open to making new friends in the fall when all the frosh are new; after 1 semester people are not in that same frame of mind. If you're outgoing and make friends easily, its not a big deal. But others might do better going to a college where they can start in the fall with everyone else.</p>
