Hi everyone. I'm Angela. I'm new here. I just transferred to Rutgers New Brunswick from a community college. I just moved into my apartment yesterday and would love to make some new friends.

I'm living in Rockoff apartments this year and my roommates are all coming back after the storm's over (Monday), so I really have nothing to do but wait and see if my other friends are moving in.

Hi angela congrats on your acceptance. I just have a few question since I will also be transferring to rutgers NB in spring of 2012. Did Rutgers take all your credits that were listed as transferable on NJ transfer? What was your major at the community college?

I will transfer as a bio major and I am just scared that RU won’t take my science classes especially gen chem, gen bio, gen physics, and organic chem.

Hi Bottlecap. Well, I had over 60 credits from community college and found out that Rutgers won’t accept more than 60 credits at a community college. Most of my credits transferred over but the math classes I took didn’t fulfill their math requirements. It was confusing. I think your classes will be fine.

I just majored in General Studies at community college. Everything will be fine.

Hey jenny, I already check the NJ transfer website but I am just still worried that they still won’t accept my credits even though they are listed as transferable.

As long as you take all the required courses in the transfer agreement all 60 credits should transfer.

Make sure you take a technology class that’s what got me b/c in my CC you could take an additional science class instead of the tech. Just because I didn’t take that course I didn’t get my 60 credits transferred.

Hey I’m a transfer student for the fall 2011 semester and I’m still confused on the transfer of credits and have no idea who to go to. I graduated with an associates so shouldn’t all of my credits be accepted and Rutgers?

Bottlecap1990: I think it was called IST101 it was a Computer Applications course. You should try to look for all the courses that are required so that you could get your 60 credits transferred. You should contact someone in the Transfer Center they could give you more info.

MaFe0509: Hey. Have you gone to register for your classes yet? If so when you went to the meeting for those who graduated with Associates Degree didn’t they give you that yellow packet where all your courses were listed and what it transferred to? & also they talked about how the only way to earn the 60 credits was if you took the following classes and then the person would mention 4 English courses, 2 language, etc…if you took all of those classes that he/she mentioned then you should get 60 credits.

Like for me I didn’t take all of those classes that the person mentioned but in the end 52 credits transferred. Only my Gym/Health course and 6 credits for CLEP didn’t transfer.

Thanks for your help Jenny, but i don’t think there is a specific class you need to take in order for rutgers to take all your credits. I believe as long as a class is transferable according to nj transfer and that you don’t exceed 60 credits they will take them. I think you were referring to a tech class that is a requirement for an associate degree.

I transferred into Rutgers SOE with an associates degree and 3.94 GPA at the end of spring + two additional courses over the summer (an elective mathematics and a required sophomore level electrical engineering class) and they accepted a total of 74 credits towards my degree.
