hey cttouch,

for what semester did you transfer in? what were your stats? what school did u transfer from? if a cc, did u get you associates? if not, how many credits did u have when u sent in your application? did u apply before the priority deadline or after? how long was the wait for a responds? whats your major? do you live on or off campus? whats the atmosphere like at Rutgers?

lol. i know its a lot of question, but id like to know. thanks

I also just transferred to Rutgers and can answer some questions :)

I transferred in fall '08. In high school, I had a 3.3 and in my first year of college I had a 3.8. I transferred from a four year college in maryland (private, liberal arts, wayyy too expensive). I applied before the priority deadline. Um... I remember they made me wait pretty much until the day they said they would let everyone know, or maybe a day or two before that.

I'm an english and art history double major and I live on college ave, but only through extreme luck since most transfer students this year were put in a hotel. The atmosphere here is definitely loud at times- people will be up running through the halls at midnight, but they are quiet well into the day (I'd assume they're finally sleeping, hah). There is a lot of pot smoking, at least in my dorm. It seems like most of the very serious students live on Busch, and I feel like a lot of people living here just sort of "get by" when it comes to academics, if that makes any sense.

anyway I hope I helped!

thanks Backtothestars. that really helped!

you stated that the more serious student live on the Busch campus. what about the Cook campus. do you know if a transfer student majoring in biology would have to live in a hotel?!

Busch is very asian... not to be stereotypical though :) Cook/Douglass seems okay to me- I've never experienced any upperclassmen dorms there, just a freshman dorm. It's very quiet and scenic. But as a bio major I'd bet that you're going to have most of your classes on Busch.

Hard to say about the hotel. It doesn't seem like res life has ruled it out for next year; there really isn't enough space on campus. If I were you I'd return my housing forms as soon as you get them- don't wait more than a day. I've heard the hotel isn't so bad though- supposedly rutgers pays you $15 a day to stay there, free housekeeping, pool downstairs. also I think last year they had people complete a form saying if they were okay with staying in the hotel for a bit or if they wanted to be moved out ASAP, and then moved out the people who were the most ****ed off about it first.

or they make you live off-campus. I know a few people who opted to stay off campus even when they were offered regular housing. and usually upperclassmen on c/d live in the henderson apartments or newells or starkeys, if I am not mistaken. and woodbury, if you're a girl.

Hi, I am transferring to rutgers newark. I handed in the application 10 days after the deadline and my college I am at right now still hasn't sent in my college transcript. I have a Gpa of a 3.489 and I have 56 credits. What are my chances of getting into Rutgers Newark???

xc800tm... From my brief chat when I stopped in the admissions office, you are as good as admitted to the SAS Newark.

what is SAS Newark???

i was wondering if i am able to get into the rutgers newark school of business? not the sas one.

I think you'll get in

I think your chances (xc800tm) are very good. you could prob get into the nb business school if you wanted too as well.

Hi NJKen and naoise, thank you for boosting my confidence. I will let you guys know if I get accepted or not. I was just wondering like when do you get that email from Rutgers showing your RUID? Cuz I still didnt get that yet.

I received that email a week after I submitted my application

Generally, how long does it really take for Rutgers to begin looking at transfer applications for the schools other than nursing? Better yet, has anyone gotten a response( i.e admitted, not admitted, wait listed)?

this process seems like forever. lol

Did you get a scholarship?

NJ Determined- it will take forever, trust me :D

Backtothestars, I'm beginning to realize that it is, indeed, going to take forever because many freshman apps still haven't heard yet. I doubt the admissions committee has even looked at transfer apps yet! But, about the status screen; when you were applying, did it update regularly? Or, did it just update when you received a decision? does an email from the school that a student is accepted to accompany the acceptance?

Thanks!

I think I heard that rutgers has a special admissions office on livingston that just deals with transfer apps but that definitely doesn't make things go any faster.

From what I remember, the screen just updated when I received a decision. I also got an email though, so I wouldn't bother obsessively checking the site- just obsessively checking your email. :D

LOL! will do. this sucks though!
