Hi, guys id really appreciate advice on my two top college choices :)

Hey, thanks everyone for an amazing year, senior year wouldve been a ton harder without collegeconfidential.

Anyways this is my final stop of the road and i am really nervous bout what to do. My top two choices are northeastern and rutgers. Now im gonna mention all the variables so you understand my situation. My family lives overseas but were americans.
My brother is in college already in the states in new jersey.

Anyways rutgers offered me a decent financial aid to cover instate tuition. Northeastern gave me a terrible financial aid mainly composed of loans. So i might do 10k loans and pay the other 30k regularly. Now when I weigh the pros and cons im still unsure

Rutgers, Ill be near my brother and people we know bedore going over seas. Its significantly cheaper hence more convienent for my family.

Problem with rutgers and everyone told me this. As someone who wants med school rutgers its extremely competitive in nominees for grad school later. Read somewhere that only 10% of rutgers premed students go to med school just based to the sheer large size of people they take in every year.

As for northeastern it will be alot more expensive. My father tells me money isnt the issue but I really dont want to financially stress him even if he can. Plus question can I appeal my financial aid package. Cuz compared to what Ive read mine was terrible. Its also in boston a 2 to 3 hour drive from new jersey. The pros though from what I have read is their co-op program, competiton is decent if you put the effort and do your part chances are better. It also has a higher rank and a better name than rutgers.

So id really appreciate advice based on these factors. I cant make my mind and plz confirm if all my info is true and what you think would be better for me socially, financially, family, school name and support for med school.

Thanks in advance really

The coursework isn’t really different for pre-meds between Rutgers & Northeastern. You take the same pre-med classes either place. One doesn’t have higher quality teaching than the other in my opinion. If you wash out – you likely would have washed out at either school (most students who start as pre-med don’t get to med school, no matter what college they choose).

Go to Rutgers, as med school is expensive. Picks a major with good employment opportunities in case you don’t get to med school. Get a high GPA, do well on the MCAT, and get some volunteer or work experience in a medical setting.

Even with the high competition thats present with rutgers, u think if I carry my end rank wont matter?

It will be up to you not others at Rutgers.

There is no competition, just you.

Read post #1 again.

The other benefit is probable preference for med school at NJMS coming from Rutgers.
