Hi, I have some questions about Penn State’s Summer Session for 2012.

I applied to Penn State at April and got accepted about three days ago. However it says that I was accepted to Summer 2012 when I applied for Fall 2012. So I went back to my application and saw that I checked the box that said “You have selected to be considered for the six-week summer session at University Park. You will first be evaluated for fall semester, but if we are unable to offer you admission for the fall semester, you will automatically be re-evaluated for the summer session.” So does this mean that I am required to attend the summer session that start in June 24? I have a family business in Korea that I have to finish before I go to the states.

Here is another question. I’ve read some comments about this and they said that you can call them to “bump” you up to Fall instead of attending the summer session. Does anyone think there will be a greater chance to be bumped up to Fall after May 1 since it is the acceptance deadline? (I mean maybe there will be seats available for Fall term?)

Thank you so much for all your help!

This is an important enough question to Call the Admissions office directly and make sure you understand.

I would call the office, but I would think what they’re going to tell you is “take it or leave it” because theres probably other kids who would like that spot

You should call! Longer you wait less of chance you’ll be given fall admissions. If you really want it you need to call. I do know people who admission did reconsidered and got admitted for fall. Summer at psu is great tho!
