So today I took the ACT for the second and last time (I’m a senior) and when I took it last April, I received a 26 composite. I didn’t study, and did about an hour or two worth of prep. 30 on reading, 29 on writing, 21 on math, etc. Math has always been my Achilles heel and it pulls down my grades significantly (not only on the ACT). The math portion on the ACT today was very difficult for me, I don’t think I’ve ever guessed on a test as much as I did for the math portion. I’m not sure how I did today but I think I did significantly better on the English portions, as well as my writing.
I was just wondering, will colleges look and see that I do well on English, but not on math? Will that influence their general opinion of me? I’m applying to all schools through the common app and will most likely superscore. If it makes any difference, I’m applying to Brown (reach, I just have legacy and my parents just wanted me to give a shot but it’s obviously very unlikely), UNC Chapel Hill (bit of a reach), Stonehill, Providence College, Salve Regina, Furman, and BU.
