I have a 36 in reading, a 35 in English, and a 31 combined English and writing. My highest math score, however, is a 23. What will colleges do with this huge difference in scores…??? (My composite was a 29 fyi, with science being mediocre at 25). Thanks in advance. Any advice is appreciated.
Well, FWIW, I got into Northwestern with a similar spread. Granted it was ages ago, and it was SAT, not ACT. But I’ve talked to no shortage of folks who are now profs who had the same kind of spread. I don’t know if it’s become more of a disadvantage these days with the mega-competitiveness and testing prep obsession, but I’d hope not. Some people just aren’t equally “good” across the board, and IMO the college should see what you’re applying in and look at your clear talents, rather than the fact that you and math don’t get along particularly well. (I didn’t either, and it made no difference in college or life.) Hope it works out; I’d think a lot of good colleges will look your scores favorably.

If you’re going into engineering then that’s a problem. Otherwise send it.
