High acceptance for transfers?

Hi all, I'm getting ready to attend Indiana University in Bloomington this fall, and I'm looking into transferring to WUSTL after sophomore year. In looking I've found that their transfer acceptance rate is very high (about 30%) compared to their freshman acceptance rate (about 20%), anybody know why?

I think the transfer rate probably varies more from year to year - TheTransferBook.com[/url”>http://thetransferbook.com/stats/"]TheTransferBook.com (although i’m not sure how recent their, or your, statistics are) has WashU’s transfer rate listed as being almost identical to the freshmen acceptance rate.

The other US News Top 50 schools are listed too, and they’re pretty much all over the map…

It’s not that high, around 25%. Btw, it’s also depends on the semester in which you wanna transfer in. It might be easier to transfer in Spring cos they receive fewer applications. Nevertheless, it’s still a very selective school to transfer into. So, good luck!

Also, it depends on what year you’re trying to transfer into.

Since the 2014 class didn’t go to the waitlist, it’s a good assumption that they overenrolled (especially since I know the incoming engineering class is apparently HUGE this year).

In other words, they’re is a chance that they might not accept as many transfers as they would for another year.
